Seriously, it's time to teach a kid to drive?

No way.

Not possible.

I can NOT have a kid old enough to drive!

except, it seems, according to the BMV. . . . . I do.

So, Max passed the test for his driver's permit on the second try. And all the way home I heard "Can I drive tonight? Please? Huh? Huh? When we get home can I have a driving lesson? Please? . . . . . "

So yes, after dinner and chores, we drove, well make that I drove to the parking lot at the Azalia park (after forbidding his sisters to make the one block walk over there to watch!). I covered some basics, how to sit in the seat, hold the steering wheel, place your foot on the pedals, and what all those switches on the dashboard do. As far as driving, all we did was go in and out of parking places so he could see how the car's perimeter is not where it feels like it is. He enjoyed it and we actually had a nice time. It was about a half hour, the known limit for his attention span ;) I'm sure the first words when I get home will be: "can I have another driving lesson?"

And I'll say (with a slightly evil grin) "Are your chores done?" Bwaaaaahhaaaaaaaahaaaa!~~~ Leverage is good :)
